O'Loughlin Gaels GAA / Ciara Lawlor Memorial Run - May 20th at Kilkenny Castle Park

'Loughlin Gaels Senior Hurlers will 'Run With Ciara' on May 20th at the Castle Park helping The Ciara Lawlor Memorial raise money for Ataxia Foundation Ireland. The Lawlor Family are great friends and supporters of O'Loughlin Gaels GAA & Camogie and the local community. Their daughter Ciara died suddenly at a Kodaline Concert in Marley Park from a pre-existing heart condition in July 2016. Her brothers Jack and Barry play with the club and her cousin Huw is a Senior Club Player and also a member of the extended Kilkenny panel. The Ciara Lawlor Memorial are holding the event on May the 20th to raise funds for Ataxia Foundation Ireland, a charity set up to support those affected by the degenerative desease, including Ciara's school friend Katie Kelly, a sister of St. Patrick's Ballyragget GAA player and Kilkenny panelist.

THE CLUB HAS SET UP A PAGE ON THEIR WEBSITE INVITING PEOPLE TO JOIN THE SENIOR TEAM TO JOIN THEM AND REGISTER & DONATE FOR THE EVENT. Already Thomastown Intermediate Team and St. Patrick's Ballyragget  have committed to join in.

The page link to donate €10 is  http://www.oloughlingaels.gaa.ie/store/p13/Ciara_Lawlor_Run_-_Take_Part_and_Donate_10_Euro_.html

All funds will be presented to the Ciara Lawlor Memorial for the foundation.

As a GAA community we invite all players and clubs to join our Seniors and use the day as a support of all members affected by sudden loss or serious illness within their families.

Garda Vetting for Coaches

Please follow this link to find out how to be vetted.

http://www.gaa.ie/news/vetting/

Who needs to be vetted?
In the GAA any person who carries out a role of responsibility such as coaching, managing or training underage teams or indeed adult teams that contain any player under 18 yrs. of age must be vetted. It also applies to organising underage activities or refereeing underage games.  Thereafter, each club shall decide if other roles merit a person being vetted.

Any person who was working with children in the GAA prior to the commencement of the Act and was not previously vetted for that role may continue in that capacity but must apply as a matter of priority to be vetted by the GAA under what is termed ‘retrospective vetting’.  This term and these conditions are allowed for in the Act.
